Installation of Vinorage wine cellars
A wine cellar from Vinorage must be installed on a flat floor surface at either ground or basement level, so the wine cellar can utilize the temperature from the ground. The placement of the wine cellar in - ground means that a constant optimal temperature can be maintained. This technique is referred to as passive cooling.
A Vinorage wine cellar can be installed in a new building during the construction or adapted in to an existing floor. The home wine cellar is particularly popular as a creative and elegant addition to the kitchen, family room, living room, conservatory, or leisure room for the gentlemen.
Regardless of your wishes and challenges, you are guaranteed a wine cellar that will become the centerpiece of any room in any type of home.
Installation Guide for Your Vinorage Wine Cellar
Step 1: Excavation & Preparation
Choose a location and excavate the necessary space. Ensure any underfloor heating pipes are at least 400 mm from the wine cellar. It is also recommended to avoid direct sunlight.
Once the location is chosen, excavate the space according to the technical dimensions provided with your purchase from Wine-store.co.uk.
Step 2: Laying the Concrete Foundation
Lay a concrete foundation (poured concrete or concrete tiles) to support the wine cellar. Ensure the ground is level so that the cellar sits straight when inserted.
Step 3: Insertion of the Wine Cellar
Insert the wine cellar so that, without the glass door attached, it is approximately 5 mm (range: 2-8 mm) below the finished floor – which includes the moulded floor and any coatings (like hardwood).
Step 4: Connecting the Ventilation
Connect the included ventilation hoses to the dedicated openings on the wine cellar. Run the hoses to an exterior wall where they will be attached and hidden behind the ventilation grill.
This passive ventilation system ensures the air in the cellar is constantly replaced—without impacting your energy bill or the environment.
Step 5: Connecting the Power Cable
An electric cable is included to power the door mechanism and LED lights. Connect this cable to the nearest 220V-240V power source and the connection unit.
Run the cable for the LED and door operation to a wall-mounted switch (FUGA low current) located at least 1.5 metres from the door.
Step 6: Casting the Foundation
With all elements connected, cast the foundation around the cellar walls. Typically, the cellar is embedded in a layer of soil or sand before insulation material is installed.
A subsequent concrete layer is poured, and if underfloor heating is used, its pipes are installed at least 400 mm from the wine cellar.
Step 7: Flooring Around the Wine Cellar
Integrate the wine cellar into the ground while leaving a margin for the floor height. The cellar should remain approximately 5 mm (2-8 mm) below the finished floor level.
Once the flooring is laid at the proper level, you can proceed to install the glass door.
Step 8: Installation of the Glass Door
The glass door comes pre-mounted in a stainless steel frame and is capable of supporting two adults. This simplifies the installation process.
Adjust the door’s height using the long cut-out holes in the frame to match your floor level.
The electric motor (mounted inside the cellar) attaches to the door. Adjust the motor so that when fully extended, the door stands at approximately 85° relative to the floor (but not exceeding 85°).
