Why invest in a wine cellar?
The wine storage dilemma
As a wine enthusiast, you may have been asking yourself: Should I invest in a wine cellar? Or should I buy wine coolers instead? And you're not alone, as many people are wondering what the best way is to store all their delicious bottles of wines from different years, each with their own distinctive character. So, at Wine-store we've put together this guide that lists the benefits of a wine cellar, so you're one step closer to solving your wine storage dilemma.
To understand the benefits of a wine cellar, we need to refer to a previous guide: "Proper wine storage: Get the most out of your wine collection". In the guide, we listed three rules to proper wine storage that anyone can benefit from implementing. Here, we made it clear that your wine thrives the best in a room no colder than 12 Degrees Celsius, and no warmer than 18 Degrees Celsius. This is not to imply that you can store your wines in a room that's 12 degrees one day and 18 degrees another as this would be an extremely bad idea. In fact, wine is a bit like people who prefer a stable everyday life (aka temperature) without too many unexpected fluctuations. We also argued for storing wine in dark places and in a horizontal position. All of this may seem difficult at first, which it usually is if you plan to store your wine collection on a shelf in your living room. But don't worry because that's where a wine cellar becomes a real problem solver. In fact, the smart wine cellar underground ensures the above-mentioned conditions without the need for you to actively do anything about it in your everyday life. Clever, isn't?
When is an underground wine cellar worth your money?
How long can wine last?
Wine can be made with a variety of grapes so it would simply be impossible to go through how long wine can last for each one. So, we'll just point out some of the most popular.
For example, did you know that certain red wines produced from grapes such as Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot can be stored for at least five years. Some wines made from these grapes can even be stored in a wine cellar for up to 20 years. This is the equivalent of buying a special bottle of red wine the year of your marriage and opening it on your 20-year wedding anniversary. However, it is important to point out that the wines we drink in our daily life are produced with this in mind. Wines like these are therefore meant to be enjoyed shortly after purchase and not to be stored. If you like wine classics from regions such as Bordeaux, the situation is quite different. Top wines as these are especially good for aging. If you have a collection that includes top wines, you can leave them for many years before you open them.
If you have a wine collection that entails such wines, a wine cellar underground would be a good idea as these bottles will only stay good, or maybe even get better, if they are stored properly. And here a wine cellar underground is the perfect contender for the job. A wine cellar is therefore worth an investment if you have a wine collection that can be stored for several years without going bad.

Vinorage elevation and wine cellars without elevation
At Wine-store you can find an innovative wine cellar with elevation. Our Vinorage elevation is the perfect wine cellar for you who have a collection of wines containing under 200 bottles. As the name suggests, this wine cellar, with elevation, can pop up from the floor, which has two advantages: You don't have to worry about lack of space, and it's an innovative way to store your wines.
If you're dreaming of an entire wine room, we also sell larger wine cellars. Our larger wine cellars underground offer space for more bottles and people. Unlike Vinorage elevation, you can stand in the wine cellar and enjoy a glass of wine. However, we also have smaller underground wine cellars without elevation that are not intended for you to stand in. These wine cellars are perfect for smaller wine collections.
